Chambery In France

Chambery is classed as the gateway to the French Alps. When my husband suggested that we should go to this charming place in France for a weekend, I was over the moon.

We boarded the plane from Stansted Airport to Lyon. From Lyon we hired a car and took a leisurely drive to the Chambery. After checking into the Hotel Les Princes, which is charming and full of character, we went straight out to explore the town. The town centre was full of restaurants, bars and café. The narrow cobblestone streets were quite amazing.

The next morning after breakfast my husband and I walk straight to the railway station and hired 2 bikes and ready to give our leg muscles some exercise. We cycled through the bumpy cobblestones streets, we went to see the Castle which is now the home of the council office and the 13th century Cathedral. By the afternoon we were feeling a bit tired and hungry, so we decided to give our legs a rest. We chain our bikes to the railing and stop at a café and ordered 2 delicious Croque Monsieur and 2 coffee. After lunch, I decided to go on the trolley bus and have a guided tour around Chambery. It was great fun. In the evening, we went to this lovely French restaurant, Brasserie Lez and had our dinner and washed down with plenty of local wine.

The next morning, we cannot wait to get back on our bike and cycle to the vineyards in Apremont, at the foot hill of the majestic Mount Graner and have our wine tasting experience.

Enjoying a glass of wine surrounded with the beautiful scene of the French Alps is something that I will not forget in a hurry.
I have enjoyed the lovely weekend in Chambery. I will certainly go back there again in the near future.
